Robert Jones (Roddy) serves as the Senior Executive Chairman of Davidson and Jones Construction Company. The company legacy began with Roddy Jones’ father, Seby B. Jones, who co-founded the company in 1935 alongside business partner James A. Davidson. The latter originally founded the company in 1918 as a residential builder. Roddy Jones is vastly credited for shifting the company from residential to commercial construction markets in the continuance of his father’s legacy. This change in market sectors widely benefited the company and the community at large. Davidson & Jones delivered several high-impact projects during this pivotal time, including Crabtree Valley Mall, The Raleigh Civic and Convention Center, the North Raleigh Hilton, Highwoods Business Park, and the American Airlines terminal at RDU.
To date, Roddy Jones still maintains an active role in setting the long-term vision and direction for the company. Davidson and Jones Construction Company operates as a privately owned and operated fourth-generation company. The Jones family legacy continues, and Roddy is largely recognized for his impact on the community. In October of 2019, Roddy was inducted into the Raleigh Hall of fame for his life service, including his contributions to the City of Raleigh’s economic development and education system.
